Q: What is the difference between PC, PA, PBT and PCPET?
A: PC (polycarbonate) has high heat resistance and impact strength. PA (polyamide) has durability and abrasion resistance. PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) strikes a balance between the properties of PC and PA. PCPET (polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate) is similar to PBT but more heat resistant.
Q: Which is best for withstanding car engine heat?
A: PBT and PCPET can withstand intermittent heat up to 130°C, making them suitable for under-hood automotive components near the engine. PA withstands peaks of 110°C continuously. PC is most heat resistant with continuous use limit above 150°C.
Q: How do you ensure food grade safety?
A: All our materials are produced following GMP in ISO22000 certified plants. We perform stringent tests for contaminants and heavy metals. Grades intended for food contact also comply with FDA or EU regulations like 10/2011. Certificates of Analysis are available for customer audits.
Q: What processing methods can be used?
A: All our engineered plastics can be injection or injection/blow molded. PC, PBT, PA are also suitable for extrusion, calendaring and thermoforming. PCPET requires specialized injection machines. PA is additionally processable through rotational molding.
Q: Do you offer special modifications?
A: Yes, we have experience in producing customized grades of all materials with additives like glass fiber, carbon fiber, flame retardants, impact modifiers and colorants for specialized applications. Please inquire about available modifications.
